LG Boss pledges to comply with Public Procurement Law

In compliance to the  Open Government Partnership (OGP) principles, other fiscal transparency and sustainability reforms at local governments, Chikun Local Government Council of Kaduna state have now a procurement plan and other related data for citizens to access, monitor and track budget implementation and procurement.

Dropping the hint during the week in Kaduna, Chikun Council boss, Hon. Hadiza Ladi Yahuza revealed that her Council has concluded plans to stick to the state's Public Procurement Law and guidelines to stimulate economic growth and social development at the grassroots level.

Yahuza, who was represented by the Council's Secretary, Engineer Phillip Makama, appealed to constituents to be patient with the Council and assured that plans are in place to address their needs.

The host and Councillor of Rido ward,  Hon. Peter David, expressed gratitude over the turn out of the constituents and assured them that he would not let them down in the area of lobbying and pushing for infrastructure development in communities to engender the overall development of the Ward. "We need to push together with your participation for the 2020 budget to make the needed impact in our communities hence the need to create awareness on participatory governance.", he stressed.

In their separate presentations on 'leveraging on the Open Government Partnership In practice in Kaduna to foster inclusive development'; 'tracking budget performances through open sources of contract data for effective procurement monitoring and reporting for effective service delivery', Yusuf Goje and Dangwa Abbas Danjuma of the Coalition of Associations for Leadership, Peace, Empowerment and Development (CALPED), encouraged participants to maximize the opportunities in the available tools for co creation, transparency and accountability to attract the needed development for Rido Ward.

The town hall meeting which was organized by the Office of the Councilor Rido Ward in partnership with CALPED attracted constituents from all the villages and urban communities of Rido ward, including representatives of traditional rulers, business groups, women, youth, people with disabilities, political parties and community leaders who applauded the initiative of the Councilor to call for the meeting and provide account of his stewardship.
